General Profile
Daisy if often seen wearing colours like yellow, orange and green; her image, abilities and personality often represents flowers, hence the name Princess “Daisy”. Daisy is portrayed wearing a floor length yellow and orange dress with wrist-length gloves. Daisy’s dress has puffy sleeves with white floral frills peering out the openings. Daisy’s collar is also a white floral frill, as well are the openings of her gloves.
In most of the recent Mario sports instalments for the Gamecube, Wii, and DS systems, Daisy’s “primary sports outfit” includes orange shorts, a yellow sleeveless shirt, and the usual flower accessories. In Mario Smash Football, Daisy wears a two-piece soccer outfit. The outfit consists of an orange midriff-baring crop top with turquoise as a secondary colour and white. In Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Daisy wears a winter outfit that is exclusive to all of the game’s events. The contents include white skate boots with yellow lacing, white winter gloves, and the usual flower jewellery including crown.
Princess Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland, however her current residence is at the Mushroom Kingdom. During the events of Super Mario Land, Sarasaland which is a neighbouring desert to the Mushroom Kingdom, is invaded by the space invader Tatanga.
He hypnotizes her people and turns them into his army, and he kidnaps their leader Princess Daisy. Mario attempts to rescue her and save the people of Sarasaland who are an army ready to attack him!

Enemies
Daisy has no particular enemies of note at present, though Tatanga the Mysterious spaceman has been known to terrorise her kingdom of Sarasaland from time to time he was exiled long ago by the Mario Brothers.

Birdo – Daisy and Birdo have occasionally shown to be friends. In Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64), when choosing Daisy in the doubles tournament mode, her default partner will be Birdo.

Luigi – Sometimes suggested that Luigi has a romantic interest in Daisy. Luigi and Daisy have been portrayed as a couple on numerous occasions. In Mario Golf Toadstool Tour, they’re seen golfing alongside Peach and Mario.

Mario – Daisy was rescued by Mario from the clutches of Tatanga in Super Mario Land and she rewarded him with a kiss.

Princess Peach – Daisy and Peach have been shown to be best friends since Daisy’s big comeback in Marion Tennis for the Nintendo 64. While Daisy and Peach are considered to be best friends, they are often rivalled against each other in games like Mario Smash Football.

Waluigi – Daisy and Waluigi started appearing as regulars in the Mario series around the same time. It has also been suggested there may be romantic relations between them.
Appearances
Princess Daisy’s debut was in Super Mario Land in 1989 and she has appeared in over 30 games since. Years after her initial appearance Daisy started appearing in more games due to the lack of human species.
NES Open Tournament Golf (1991)
Daisy returned for her first non-Mario Land appearance as Luigi’s caddy in the NES golf title — a quiet cameo that planted the seed for her future Mario Golf appearances.
Mario Tennis (2000)
After more than a decade away from the spotlight, Daisy made her grand re-entry into the Mario universe with the Nintendo 64’s Mario Tennis. Since then she has been a permanent fixture across the Mario sports and party series.
Mario Party Series (2001–present)
Daisy has been a playable host of the board game festivities since Mario Party 3 (2001), continuing through to Mario Party Superstars (2021) and Super Mario Party Jamboree (2024). Her boundless enthusiasm and “yay!” cheers have made her one of the party series’ most recognisable voices.
Mario Kart Series (2003–present)
Starting with Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (2003) on GameCube, Daisy has appeared in every mainline Mario Kart since. Mario Kart Wii gave us her famous “Comin’ through!” sound bite, and she returns playable in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart World (2025) on Nintendo Switch 2.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008) → Ultimate (2018)
Daisy made her Smash debut as a trophy in Melee, an Assist Trophy in Brawl and Smash 4, and finally became a full Echo Fighter of Peach in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2018 — the title where her “Hi, I’m Daisy!” clip first went viral.
Mario Tennis Aces (2018) & Mario Golf: Super Rush (2021)
Daisy remains a regular on the courts and fairways, with the modern Mario sports games consistently casting her as the energetic, all-rounder counterpart to Peach.
Super Mario Run (2017) & Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
In Super Mario Run Daisy is unlocked as a playable character after completing Bowser’s castle in World 6 — the first time she has been playable in a 2D Mario platformer. In Super Mario Maker 2 she appears via a costume.
Mario Strikers: Battle League (2022)
Daisy returns to the football pitch in the Switch entry of the Strikers series, complete with her own signature Hyper Strike super-move.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Switch 2 Edition (2025)
Daisy makes a cameo in the Bellabel Park meetup expansion to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, bringing fresh dialogue for Switch 2.

- Princess Daisy first appeared in Super Mario Land (1989) as the princess of Sarasaland — a separate kingdom from Peach’s Mushroom Kingdom. Mario rescued her from the alien villain Tatanga.
- Daisy was designed by Hiroji Kiyotake (who also designed Wario and Samus Aran), and her name and floral motif were chosen to give her a distinct identity from Peach.
- After her Super Mario Land debut Daisy disappeared from the Mario series for over a decade. She did not return as a playable character until Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64) in 2000.
- According to MarioWiki, Daisy is consistently characterised as a tomboy — sporty, energetic and feisty — a deliberate contrast to Peach’s more refined personality.

- In the live-action Super Mario Bros. film (1993) Daisy appeared as the heroine instead of Peach — played by Samantha Mathis. This makes the film her only mainstream Western media appearance prior to the 2000s.
